Hi Laurie,

This looks like a fascinating legal debate, but I'm afraid its way over my head, and I suspect that's true for most consumers.
For me, the key issue is this:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
"With iTunes in the Cloud, the music, apps, and books you purchase automatically appear on all your devices. Or you can download only the stuff you want — including movies and TV shows — to just the devices you want.1 It’s all part of iCloud and iTunes 10.6."

Note the term *purchase*. Not rent, borrow, or licence. In my lexicon, if I purchase something, its mine to use as I please - and transfer ownership as I please.
Imagine purchasing a CD, and then when you're gone, the record store owner would knock on your kids' door and demand to have it back.

Yishay - that is the nub of the issue. Do I "download to own" for ever or do I have some sort of time or other limited right? The point is: the proposition has to be made clear to the consumer.

•Cats were so revered in ancient Egypt that when one died, the family members would mourn by shaving off their eyebrows. Elaborate funeral were also held and the cat was eventually enbalmed with a sculpted wooden mask and the tiny mummy was placed in the family tomb or in a pet cemetery with tiny mummies of mice.
